There were 15 crashes that occurred in the 2024 Jerez MotoGP Sprint race and some of them included the crash that ‘broke Marc Marquez’s heart while he was leading the race due to the track conditions which had just dried up from the initial super wet conditions like what happened during qualifying.
With a track surface temperature of 30°C, damp spots (damp patches) are still present in several corner spots, although they may not be visible from the screen. Spot Spots caused by water ‘seeping to the surface’ in the Drying Process
Asphalt surfaces with this condition generally do exist, but in fact it is quite difficult for the racer’s eyes to see, especially when they are in the ‘hanging’ position towards the outside as they usually do in corners.
“We fell once again but not because of override. Just like most riders, I hit a wet patch and lost the front. And at turn nine I didn’t realize there was a wet part. Then at the finish line I checked and there was only a 20cm (damp) section that made the fall, but now it’s time to focus on tomorrow.” That’s what Marc Marquez said
Crew Chief Marquez Frankie Carchedi said: “Box’s condition is very positive. In these conditions, it is very easy to touch wet areas. But Speed is what matters!” Marc Marquez finished in 6th position after successfully returning to the race after the crash and collecting 4 points in the standings.
