In 2024, the Jerez Circuit will name one of its corners with the name Ezpeleta. This is clearly a recognition of the work that Carmelo Ezpeletas has done in terms of raising the name of MotoGP and Spain, one of which is consistently used is the Jerez Circuit, as stated by the local mayor.

A new name will be included as the name of one of the bends squeezed by two bends which were previously dedicated to world champions Dani Pedrosa and Jorge ‘Aspar’ Martinez. Turn 7 at the Circuito de Jerez-Angel Nieto will be named after the CEO of Dorna. Mayor of Jerez María José García-Pelayo, today formalized the decision to name corner 7 of the Andalusia track after Carmelo Ezpeleta.

In his official speech, Mayor of Jerez María José García-Pelayo said that despite everything, Dorna CEO proved successful in doing his best to ensure that Jerez always hosts the MotoGP and Superbike World Championships regularly after 32 years ago, Carmelo took the reins of these World Championships.

Soon the name Carmelo Ezpeleta will join the names of various world champions who have left their mark on MotoGP. It will be the name of one of the corners in addition to the names of Dani Pedrosa, ‘Aspar’ Martinez, Angel Nieto (which is also dedicated to the track itself), Peluqui, Sito Pons, Alex Crivillé and Jorge Lorenzo
