Indeed, it is not yet clear where Pramac Racing will land in 2025. Are you still with Ducati or are you leaving the Borgo Panigale camp to move to Iwata Japan, the headquarters of Yamaha Racing to become a Yamaha satellite team. However, it could be said that Pramac is still part of the final slot for the 2025 factory Ducati team line-up which is still being contested between Jorge Martin, Marc Marquez and Enea Bastianini.
Recently, Fonsi Nieto, the right-hand man of the owner of Pramac Racing – Paolo Campignoti – said something quite interesting. “Obviously, I think Jorge Martin’s place is in the factory team. It’s a difficult decision for Ducati, but if it were my decision, I wouldn’t hesitate (choosing Jorge Martin). Every weekend he gets better and better.”
“We want them to take it. Jorge is moving away from us, that’s what we show at Prima Pramac with our work, that all the good riders we have go to the factory team. That is part of our job.”
And if the scenario is that Jorge Martin goes to the Ducati Lenovo, Fonsi shows the attitude that the ‘remaining racers who were eliminated’ from the battle for a place on the Lenovo Ducati 2025, one of whom is Marc Marquez, will be very welcome at Pramac Racing next year. “That’s not bad at all. Imagine, for us, as a team, if Marc Marquez could come, the hair on the back of our necks stands up thinking about that. We are in a very good situation.”
Indeed, the first question will return to how to fix Pramac Racing 2025. Ducati or Yamaha. It was nothing at Le Mans, it was reported that Paolo Campignoti looked very intense talking to Herve Poncharal. What they communicate can be anything, including something related to Herve’s position as President of IRTA (International Racing Team Association). However, speculation/rumors circulated widely in the Le Mans paddock at that time that Campignoti had a lot of communication with Herve because Herve was one of the longest-standing satellite team owners with Yamaha MotoGP. Well, it fits right?
Apart from that, another thing that might have to be considered is that in 2025 it looks like Ducati will no longer give special status/special privileges to one team as the main satellite team – or some also call the factory junior team – which has the right to receive the latest motorbike materials from the manufacturer. This can be seen from Ducati’s prospective policy for next year that the two factory motorbikes will likely be split into two teams.
And if it’s like this, in our opinion, Marc Marquez doesn’t need and doesn’t have to move to Pramac Racing. In Gresini alone it is enough that Marc no longer needs to adapt to the team atmosphere and new people and all that, without which it will clearly accelerate his process and performance in the 2025 season.
