One of the decisions that is most awaited and is part of the 2025 Silly Season is Pramac Racing’s decision on which manufacturer to race with in 2025. In general, Pramac still has about one month left until 31 July 2024 to decide on this, but via Sky Sport Italia, the team owned by Paolo Campinoti is expected to decide to move to Yamaha next year.
After twenty years of history as Ducati’s main partner, according to Sky Sports, Paolo Campinoti’s Prima Pramac team has decided to start a new adventure: from 2025 it will be a Yamaha partner team. What’s missing is an official announcement, which we can expect in the next few hours.
Paolo Campinoti’s Prima Pramac Team, after twenty years of history as Ducati’s main partner, has decided to start a new adventure. In fact, starting in 2025 it will become a Yamaha partner team thanks to long negotiations carried out by Managing Director Lin Jarvis which succeeded in more than convincing Pramac to leave the champion motorbike, namely the Desmosedici GP, for the YZR-M1. It is currently estimated that Pramac is also entering the identification, negotiation and selection phase of the racers who will drive the two new M1s.
This phenomenon is widely considered to be a kind of ‘Ducati Rush’ following the transfer of many strong and potential racers to other manufacturers such as Jorge Martin, Enea Bastianini and Marco Bezzecchi, now it is the turn of their strongest satellite teams to join the village to other manufacturers.
Another effect is that Fermin Aldeguer will only have the potential to race at Gresini or at VR46, with estimates that Morbidelli will join VR46. Apart from that, it is still unknown which team Ducati will supply with the latest version of the GP25 motorbike in the future – Gresini or VR46, or perhaps each of them will get one of the latest motorbikes, considering that currently only Pramac is the one who exclusively receives the Desmosedici motorbike package on a par with the factory team. .
If it can be confirmed, Yamaha will get its satellite team back after two seasons of only having two factory motorbikes. It seems that Álex Rins will continue to be Fabio Quartararo’s teammate. With two more YZR-M1 motorcycles on the grid, development of one of today’s less competitive motorcycles is expected to accelerate rapidly, also benefiting from the extensive concessions available.
