Realizing that the supply of gasoline and lubricants is important in terms of the future development of MotoGP, recently KTM MotoGP and the Mobil1 energy brand have increased the level of technical cooperation between the two. The American fuel and oil giant ExxonMobil, which uses the Mobil1 brand name, in Jerez, presented for the first time a mobile research laboratory at the KTM Box of the Red Bull MotoGP team.
Welcoming the new MotoGP regulations that will be present for 2027 where the new tennis rules will limit the amount of gasoline to 20 liters and the use of gasoline with a 100 percent non-fossil configuration at the same time, both KTM and Mobil1 are trying to further intensify this cooperation.
The presence of a mobile development laboratory in Jerez allows technical teams from both teams to work on site and react if necessary. The permanent unity of the team from Jerez makes it possible to sample the material at the Box and evaluate it directly. This creates the right profile of the lubricant and gasoline used.
For ExxonMobil MotoGP will be a temporary road test laboratory. From KTM’s point of view, it would be very helpful to have a research partner in this technical discipline in the pits, especially in terms of speed in response/reaction.
