Aleix Espargaro’s retirement from Aprilia at the end of the 2024 MotoGP season opened up the opportunity for several racers to enter the Aprilia Racing line-up in 2025. Rivola at the start of the Catalunya GP race weekend gave a little clue regarding Aprilia’s interest in pairing Italian racers with Italian Aprilia RSGP motorbikes. However, at the end of the race weekend, it turned out that there were still opportunities and possibilities for non-Italian racers to ride Aprilia motorbikes.
While talking to DAZN Spagna in Catalunya, Massimo Rivola discussed the possibility that Marc Marquez could be Aleix Espargaro’s replacement. “We are ready with any option. We want to win and we want the best, so never say never. We have to be prepared, be attentive and see who will be the rejected riders, who will be a very good choice”, said the CEO of Aprilia Racing.
Rivola said he agreed with Jorge Lorenzo’s theory that Gigi Dall’Igna could decide to promote Jorge Martin to Ducati and keep Marc Marquez at the satellite team on a bike identical to that of Pecco Bagnaia.
