Aleix Espargaro started from pole position in the 13 lap sprint race of the 2024 Catalunya MotoGP after winning pole in Q2 a few hours earlier while breaking the lap time record Catalunya-Spain circuit. Pecco Bagnaia and Raul Fernandez followed in the first row while Jorge Martin started from position 7 and Marc Marquez from position 14. Tre’s temperature was 47° C with 42% humidity. A good start was made by Pecco Bagnaia who led after the start until Turn two, followed by Pedro Acosta while Marc Marquez moved up to 9th position in the first two corners and in 8th position in the second Sector.
