“Yeah, a lot of second places in a row. But don’t worry!, I mean, I hope it will come, but if I have to finish second in all the Sprint races from now to the end, I’ll sign it! “That’s what Marc Marquez said via MotoGP.com in response to finishing second in the Mugello Sprint yesterday. “It’s true that we still lack something, but the positive thing is that we are in the top three.”

In his explanation, Marc Marquez looks quite proud of being competitive even though he uses an ‘older’ motorbike. Perhaps for the first time he openly estimates that he will continue to struggle with the newer Ducati Desmosedici GP24, even though he is riding the older GP23 model. He also warns him now fast ‘anywhere’.

“I’m very happy, especially because Mugello, like Barcelona, I came with some doubts. However, with this motorbike I have to forget the circuits I was involved in [in the past]. With this bike I feel fine anywhere. I fought there with Bagnaia, Martin again. Apart from that, Bastianini was super fast, but had time to make contact with Martin. We fought there with a [Model] 24 motorbike so this is something that makes me proud.”

Marc will start from the front row position in this Sunday’s race after Pecco had to drop 3rd down on the grid after the clash with Alex Marquez. However, in general Marc Lebi likes to start from 4th position rather than moving up to 3rd on the grid. “To be honest, I prefer to start in fourth position rather than third because the difference is very small and in fourth position you are in a better position at the braking point.”

However, Marc predicts that Pecco will still be a tough opponent even though he has to start from the second row. “Pecco has another speed. He was the only one able to keep the speed constant. He’s super fast, super constant, always on point. So it will be difficult. Also on the race track it’s about physical conditions, it’s very demanding. So let’s see. I think Pecco and also Bastianini are the fastest out there.” . . . Close Marc.
