It’s official, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing will bring young MotoGP star and two-time World Champion Pedro Acosta back to orange in 2025. A new multi-year contract with the 20-year-old Grand Prix sensation means Acosta will later be equipped with a Factory KTM RC16 Motorcycle at the highest level and in his second year of MotoGP.
The Spaniard has been outstanding in 2024 in his first attempt at the premier class. Acosta has achieved two podium finishes leading up to Mugello and is one of the youngest riders in the sport to stand on the podium as well as the youngest to win back-to-back trophies – and is now in the top five in the world championship standings.
Acosta’s climb into the Grand Prix was swift and decisive. He won the 2020 RBRC in his second season as part of a proven feeder series. Pedro, who joins Aki Ajo’s Red Bull KTM Ajo team, then took the podium on his Moto3 debut at Qatar 2021 and took his maiden win at the same venue the following weekend. Acosta’s one spell in the category ended with world championship success and he jumps straight into Moto2 for 2022; a class he also mastered by the end of 2023.
Pedro’s character, natural ability and mature attitude made him an immediate success in MotoGP, and the speed and results he achieved flowed abundantly in his first season with RC16 technology with gasgas. This new contract draws the popular rider into the Red Bull KTM structure once again and for a term that will extend beyond 2025.
