At the Aprilia All Stars event, the CEO of Aprilia Racing, Massimo Rivola, was asked for his opinion by GPOne regarding the potential of Aprilia’s power map next year and their position on the Power Map in the 2025 MotoGP World Championship. “Our motorbike has shown that it is competitive – he said – Aleix has been fast since the race first, then Maverick performed very well, it was a shame that the gearbox broke on the last lap in Portimao, otherwise he would have got 20 points more, but the most important thing is another podium.” That’s how Massimo gave his initial evaluation of the season regarding the RSGP24 Update
” What Vinales is doing in Austin is what we expected to happen, also because of the growth we achieved with him in recent years. Now we have to maintain this level and it will not be easy, because Ducati is improving and the riders are pushing each other and then there is Pedro Acosta, a baby phenomenon who we can only congratulate.”
Then Rivola again gave his explanation regarding the transfer of the relay from Aleix Espargaro to his ‘adopted son’, Jorge Martin, next year. “Aleix of course played an important role and this makes everything even more beautiful because Jorge is his best friend and he brought him to a place where he thought he would be fine. For me this is the best compliment he could give me.”
And after that, the most surprising thing was that Rivola also explained indirectly with the arrival of Martin, Aprilia’s potential to compete for the World Champion title next year. The most exciting follow-up went up “There are no more excuses, that’s what we told ourselves at the company,” that’s what Rivola said. In general, this means that with Martin’s presence, there is no longer any reason for Aprilia not to fight for the Champion title
” the good news is that Jorge will arrive, I hope it will be with Maverick because they will be an extraordinary couple, the bad news is that we no longer have any excuses. The pressure must increase because our growth path must lead us to strive for victory. This year we are not far away, we still need one last step.”
“We have always been consistent and fair with our drivers, Maverick is our priority, but the marriage happened twice and we will not force them. If, as I hope, he wants to stay with us, we will be happy, if not, we will move in the transfer market. The Italian could be an option, but we also have to see if Oliveira will make the final jump which he has yet to do.”
It is very clear that Rivola is preparing plan B by looking at Italian riders to be able to race on the Italian Moors with an Italian manufacturer.
